PRESEASON OUTLOOK:
Only four players from the 1945 squad returned, and five of the top 7 scorers from the 1945 team did not return for the '46 season. However, five former players returned, after some absence from WWII, including former All-Americans Charlie Black and Ray Evans (who only played in 5 games).

This was the tallest team in KU history, with four men over 6'5. The 1945-46 edition of the Jayhawkers isn't slated to be a super-team, but it will contain as least one performer who will carry a pain for the opposition.  He is Charlie Black, All-American in 1942 and now back in the harness after two and a half years in the Army Air Corps.

SEASON SUMMARY:
Although 23 players were on the '46 roster, the rotation mostly included only six players until Ray Evans arrived late in the season.  Those six carried the Jayhawks to a 19-2 record, a perfect conference season, and a spot in the NCAA tournament, where they lost to eventual national Champion Oklahoma A&M, who had given the Jayhawks their only other loss earlier in the year.
