Won five letters his senior year in high school and set basketball scoring record of 46 points in one game. His coach was an admirer of Phog Allen and convinced Wulf that he should attend Kansas. After long trip east to Lawrence and enrolling in school for his freshman year, Wulf had one dollar left in his pocket. He secured job at 25 cents per hour and ate graham crackers and soup until payday, 14 days later. Wulf subsequently played three years with K.U. varsity on some of its greatest teams. Earned All-Missouri Valley honors his senior year, 1923. Following graduation he played four seasons with AAU Hillyards (1924-27), All-American 1926.
