Larry Oid Sterlin 1940 - 2007 Bangkok
Bangkok, Thailand Memorial services for Larry Oid Sterlin, 67, Bangkok, were Friday, Sept. 7 and 8, at Wat Benchamabophit Temple in Bangkok. Additional services were Saturday, Sept. 15, in Laguna Hills, Calif., where he was buried.
Mr. Sterlin died Wednesday, Sept. 5, 2007, in Bangkok.
He was born May 2, 1940, in Searcy, Ark., the son of O.J. and Shelby Sterlin. He graduated from Scott City High School in 1958, where his basketball team won the state tournament. He was a high school All-American and played forward at Kansas University under Jerry Waugh and Dick Harp.
Mr. Sterlin worked for Santa Fe Springs and De Laval in California. He worked in Singapore and Thailand for De Laval and Covanta for the last 18 years. He joined Covanta Power International Holding as managing director of Southeast Asia in 1999 and was currently its president.
Survivors include his wife, Margie, Evergreen, Colo., and Monarch Bay, Calif.; two daughters, Michelle Sterlin, San Diego, and Heather Biglow, Boulder, Colo.; and a sister, Ruby Shade, Lawrence.
