Coach John Douglass
Coach John D. Douglas was named the Athletic Director and Men's Basketball Head Coach of Lawson State Community College during the summer of 2003. Douglas is confident that he will be able to add to the rich history of Lawson State Community College's Athletic Program.
Coach Douglas is a graduate of Colbert County High School in Colbert County, Alabama where he became a highly recruited college prospect. Douglas was immediately signed by Calhoun Community College. During his two years at Calhoun Community College, Douglas set numerous records.
Douglas signed a basketball scholarship with the University of Kansas Jayhawks. During his tenure at the University of Kansas, Douglas was named to the All-Big Eight Team and Honorable Mentioned All-American.
Douglas was drafted by the New Orleans Jazz of the National Basketball Association (NBA), thus beginning his professional career. He spent two years in the Continental Basketball Association (CBA) at Great Falls, Montana, and was subsequently drawn to the European Professional Leagues by his brother Leon Douglas and played for the Bologna Fortitude Squad for the next four years.
