Over
the years, I have had the opportunity to see the Jayhawks up close.
Wilt Chamberlain played when I attended Topeka High School, JoJo White
starred when I was in graduate school at KU, and Danny Manning excelled while
both my daughters attended Kansas. In
1970 I moved to Des Moines, and over the years I have added Iowa’s Big Three
(Cyclones, Hawkeyes, and Bulldogs) to my fan list, and am able to
watch many of their games.
Back
in the early 90’s I published a KU basketball newsletter, primarily to
provide Des Moines-area KU fans with information.
With the advent of the Internet, and consequently the general
availability of current information, I quit producing the newsletter for
several years. In the meantime, I’ve
been working on collecting Jayhawk basketball statistics from 1897 on, with
the idea that they might be published in book form.
However, the amount of information I have would fill several large
volumes, so I’ve decided to publish these data on this web site, combined
with other data I’ve collected on the Iowa collegiate teams.
This
web site will present both current and historical information on KU, IU, ISU,
and Drake. It will always be a
‘work in progress’, as I constantly add information.
Eventually, this site will contain data on over 100 seasons and
thousands of players and coaches. Enjoy
-- and let me know if you have any comments or suggestions.
