DALLAS - The Big 12 Conference has announced its Men's Basketball 10th Anniversary Team, as selected by a combined media panel and on-line fan voting. In order to be eligible for consideration, candidates must have been an All-Big 12 First Team selection at least once in their careers. Anniversary teams are being chosen for each conference sport during the 2005-06 season in celebration of the Big 12's 10th Anniversary.

Nearly 5,000 fans participated in on-line voting through the league's web site. Fan polling will also be conducted this spring for baseball and softball anniversary teams.

KU Notebook: Jayhawks of the decade

The Kansas City Star

The Big 12 on Saturday released its 10th Anniversary Team. Three of the five players — Kirk Hinrich, Nick Collison and Raef LaFrentz — were from Kansas. Iowa State’s Marcus Fizer and Texas’ T.J. Ford also made the squad.

KU coach Bill Self said he couldn’t have been any happier with the outcome of the team, although he noted cases could’ve been made for Paul Pierce (Kansas), Drew Gooden (Kansas) and Jamaal Tinsley (Iowa State).

“But I didn’t think there were many more guys out there that deserved mention for the top five,” Self said. “It shows you how dominant Kansas has been to land three of them.”
