Royce Woolridge, a 6-foot-3 senior combo guard from Sunnyslope High in Phoenix, Ariz., signed an official basketball letter of intent with Kansas University Wednesday in a late-morning ceremony at his high school.

Woolridge averaged 28.5 points, 5.3 rebounds, 2.5 assists and 2.1 steals a game last season for 24-5 Sunnyslope. He hit 50 percent of his shots, including 34 percent of his threes. He also was a standout player for the Arizona Magic AAU team.

"I feel so good I'm finally part of the Jayhawk family officially," Woolridge said. "It's a huge moment, a huge day. It's a big accomplishment. It's crazy. It makes me feel great. There's no school like Kansas, where basketball started, the atmosphere is crazy and the fans love the game. I feel it's where I fit in best, and I'm so happy to be a Jayhawk."

Woolridge, who received recruiting interest from Arizona, Arizona State, UCLA, Georgetown and others, verbally committed to KU on May 1, 2008.
