Tad Boyle is in his third season at Wichita State as top assistant for Mark Turgeon. Longtime friends, Boyle followed Turgeon in March, 2000, from Jacksonville State where he was top assistant for two seasons. The two are also former Kansas Jayhawk teammates and were assistant coaches at the University of Oregon.

Boyle entered collegiate coaching as an assistant to Jerry Green at Oregon in 1994 after six-years in Colorado coaching at the high school level. During his three-year tenure at Oregon, Boyle was responsible for recruiting, scouting and academics.

He assisted Oregon when the Ducks qualified for the 1995 NCAA Tournament and the 1997 NIT. Turgeon was also on the Oregon staff at the time.

When Green left Oregon in 1997 to accept the head coaching position at The University of Tennessee, Boyle went along, serving as Director of Basketball Operations with the Vols. He then answered Turgeon's call to join him at Jacksonville State in 1998 where he stayed two years and was instrumental in turning the Jaguar program into a winner.

Boyle, a four-year letterman at the University of Kansas (1981-85), played in two NCAA Tournaments and was a member of the 1984 Big Eight post-season tournament championship team. He was also captain of the 1985 team under Larry Brown, was named the Jayhawks' "Most Unselfish Player" as a senior. As a sophomore he was voted "Most Inspirational Player."

After earning his B.S. degree in Business Administration from KU in 1985, Boyle went on the serve six years as a high school coach in his native Colorado. He was the sophomore basketball coach at Greeley West High School in Greeley, Colo., for a year, then was an assistant coach at Loveland High School in Loveland, Colo., for two years. From there he served Longmont High School in Longmont, Colo., as head coach for three years before heading to the college ranks.

A native of Greeley, Colo., Boyle was a standout performer for Greeley Central High School, leading the team to the state championship as a senior in 1981. Along the way, he was named Colorado state "Player-of-the-Year" and was selected to the prestigious Converse All-America team. His high school jersey was retired at the conclusion of his senior season.

Boyle, 39, is married to the former Ann Schell of Greeley, Colo., and they have a son, Jack Thomas, a daughter, Claire, and a son Pete.
