John Keller, 1950 John Keller, known as “Long John” Keller, was an outstanding playmaker, co-captain, and NJCAA All Tournament Selection for Coach Ed Hall in 1950. He led GCCC to its first Regional Basketball Championship. The Broncbusters qualified for the NJCAA National Basketball Tournament where they finished 3rd in the Nation. “Long John” transferred to the University of Kansas where he played for the legendary “Phog” Allen. In 1952, while at KU, John was a member of the Big 7 Conference and the NCAA Championship teams. He was also selected to play for the United States Olympic Basketball Team at the Helsinki Olympic Games where the basketball team won the old medal. |
