BIOGRAPHY:

Nate Mast is in his second year as a student assistant for Kansas basketball.

A Champaign, Ill., native, Mast was a four-year letterwinner in men's basketball at his hometown university, Illinois, from 1998-2001. The former guard is the school's career leading scorer for walk ons with 95 points. He played 72 career games for the Illini with four starts and scored 65 points his sophomore season where he averaged 9.9 minutes per game.

In his senior campaign, Mast won his second Big Ten Conference championship as a player and advanced to the NCAA Tournament Elite Eight under current Kansas head coach Bill Self.

In his junior and senior seasons, Mast was awarded the Illini's Kenny Battle Most Inspirational Award. A member of the Big Ten Academic All-Conference team in 2001, Mast earned his bachelor's degree in architecture at Illinois in 2002. He is currently pursuing his master's degree in architecture at Kansas.

Following graduation at Illinois, Mast was a student-assistant coach under Self for the 2001-02 Big Ten championship team. Prior to Kansas, he spent two years in the private business sector.

Mast is married to the former Ashley Seaman, a KU graduate student studying social welfare.
