Assistant Coach Justin Ohl
Justin Ohl was named assistant coach Sept. 14, 2004 after acting as a graduate manager for the previous three years.
"Justin is certainly qualified, capable and deserving," said Drake head coach Tom Davis. "As a Drake graduate he has a great understanding of what it takes to be a successful student-athlete at Drake. He really relates to the players well and is a very hard worker."
The Mason City, Iowa, native was a four-year letterman for the Bulldogs and tied a Missouri Valley Conference single-game record by making all seven shots, including all five three-point attempts in a 2001 home game against Southwest Missouri State.
Ohl played for the Bulldogs from 1997-2001, receiving his bachelor of science in marketing in December of 2001. He then received his teaching licensure in secondary education in the fall of 2003. He is currently pursuing a Masters of Public Administration degree at Drake.
Ohl's responsibilities include recruiting, coordinating the Bulldog Basketball camp, overseeing the teamıs rebounding, individual skill development, and opponentıs advanced scouting. He also serves as the academic liaison between the basketball program and academic support services department.
He earned first team Iowa Class 2A all-state honors as a senior in 1997 at Newman High School. Ohl also played on two state championship golf teams at Newman and finished in the top six in individual honors all four years, including a runner-up finish.
